Norwex Product Production Information

Norwex produces its own microfibre in plants in China. Shortly after Norwex came to Canada, the rapid growth resulted in new plants being needed to produce the microfibre (the parent plant was in Norway, but could not keep up production); so they sourced out a new one. Turns out that you can get a Ph.D. in textile engineering in China and that they were more technologically advanced – which actually resulted in our being able to double the amount of microfibre in the previous cloths produced in Norway. The plant in China is completely run by staff from Norway, who live there and oversee all activities. Debbie was just there and was exceptionally impressed by the cleanliness and efficiency of that plant (no, it is not a sweat shop!).Of course, there is some environmental cost to producing microfibre, similar to other synthetics, but using these products we save so much in terms of energy, waste, and chemicals – the net benefit is tremendous. In the future I hope to look into quantifying this a little more.Regarding all other products that are not microfibre – we source and import from the best around the world. Some (our rubber products and spirinetts for example) come from Germany; our toothbrushes and some personal care items come from Italy (aloe face and neck gel and relaxing leg cream); the crystal deodorant is mined in Thailand; the Shea butter comes from Africa, but is extracted/packaged in Denmark; many other products are made in Denmark (much of our current personal care line and the descaler etc.; the cleaning paste is made in Austria. At any rate, NONE of our manufacturers test on animals. Anything purchased from a third world country is fair trade. All of our products are produced in as environmentally friendly manner as possible (we use very little synthetic chemicals and only those known to be non-toxic and readily biodegradable).
